It's a bit pricey at $475, but it's sure to be warm, quilted as it is with a 100% blend of cotton and nostalgia.

From the page: "A random act of kindness at a Starbucks in Florida caught on, and turned into a story of paying it forward.

It started Friday morning when one man paid for the coffee for the person in line behind him, and it went on all day.

In this excellently written article, Gary Kasparov remind us that Hitler was once, too, TIME man of the year.

From the page: "I understand that this award is not intended to be a beauty contest. But for all of Putin's attacks on the West, this will be promoted widely within Russia and around the world as a victory and an endorsement by the West of Putin's policies and practices of dictatorship. It's an early Christmas present to the Kremlin when what they really deserved was a lump of coal."

From the page: "In a candid article, Natella Boltyanskaya reviews the past year for Russia, and examines what has been lost in the arena of human rights. The piece was originally published in the Yezhednevny Zhurnal (Daily Magazine) on December 27th."

The translation is clunky, but the article is powerful.

Teller loves deception for deception's sake. He will place something under a cup, and then lift the cup so you can find the object. He calls it a magic trick because he actually palmed the item, pretended to put it under the cup, ditched it, stole another identical item, and loaded that under the cup when he lifted it. =/ He's a genius.

However, it's not an interesting trick at all until he explains what happened. Here is a nice routine illustrating the point, narrated by his partner Penn.

Are you kidding me? I have heard that newspapers are supposed to be written at a fifth grade reading level, but I didn't know that they had real fifth graders writing the headlines.

This the most useless visualization of harmonic progression that I have ever seen.

1) Spelling out the triads does not help anyone understand why this circle is important; If anything, it distracts from the purpose of the chart.

2) Why would one point out the enharmonic nature of Db and C#, but not do the same for any of the other keys?

3) C minor and F minor are in the wrong places.

4) The whole thing should be turned around and taught as the Circle of Fourths, which is actually the direction music moves in. (ii-V-I, anybody?)
